Letter to Parents 4 Final

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Re: Year 11 English / History trip to Edinburgh, Scotland: 30 September – 5 October 2014

Travel

We will be flying with Jet2 directly between Budapest and Edinburgh. Students can attend school as normal on the day of departure.

Flight 788 departs Budapest Terminal 2A at 13.30 on Tuesday 30th September 2014
Flight 788 arrives in Edinburgh at 15.30
Flight 787 departs Edinburgh at 15.50 on Sunday 5th October 2014
Flight 787 arrives in Budapest Terminal 2A at 19.50 on Sunday 5th October 2014

Please make sure that someone is at the airport in order to meet your child at 20.00 on Sunday 5th October.

Day of the flight

Students will complete a partial timetable on Tuesday. They will be permitted to attend school in non-uniform for the day and are expected to bring their luggage with them. At 11.00, we will depart from school by bus to the airport. Students should have one piece of hand luggage and one suitcase weighing no more than 20Kg. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, your son/daughter cannot attend school on the day of travel, then they will be required to arrive at the airport at 12.00, at the latest, and you should inform school no later than 9.00.

Accommodation and Meals

Students and teachers will stay at the Cowgate Tourist Hostel for 5 nights in a separate apartment we have reserved. Students will order and prepare their own breakfasts each day at the hostel. Students should have money for other meals (approximately 20 GBP/HUF 7000 per day). There may also need pocket money for other items such as snacks and souvenirs. We suggest that students bring approximately 40 GBP/HUF 14,000 per day.

The Hotel details are as follows:

Cowgate Tourist Hostel, 96 Cowgate, Edinburgh, EH1 1JN  +44 131 226 2153

Clothing

We strongly advise that students bring appropriate clothing for cold and wet weather. As a minimum they will need a waterproof jacket, warm jumpers and trousers and shoes

suitable for walking. The location of the hostel will allow us to walk to most of the events on the itinerary so students must have sensible footwear. We also suggest that each student has an umbrella.
