13.30 Budapest on Jet2 direct to Edinburgh.  Students will be taken to the airport from school and therefore should attend school as normal.

15.30 Arrival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Ground transport to Cowgate Tourist Hostel.

18:30-19:30 dinner in Grassmarket.

10.00-11.30 The National War Museum, Edinburgh Castle - Common Cause: Commonwealth Scots and the Great War Exhibition explores the stories of the First World War. Students will find out about life in the trenches from a selection of letters from the First World War by Captain William Bennet-Clark of the Royal Scots, brought to life in a digital story.

13.00 Lunch at Princes Mall

14.00 – 15.30 In the Footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson, a walking tour of Edinburgh’s Old Town. Through the closes and wynds of Old Edinburgh, discover the darker side of Scotland’s capital.

16.00 Hotel then ground transport to Toll Cross

17.00-18.00 Pre-theatre dinner in Lothian Road/Bread Street/Leven Street

18:15-19:15 Regeneration: Theatre Talk, King’s Theatre

19:30-21.00 Pat Barker’s Regeneration, at the King’s Theatre

11.30 – 13.00 Calton Hill – Nelson Monument, Observatory, National Monument (Edinburgh’s Disgrace)

13.00 – 14.00 Lunch at St. James Centre

14.00 – 16.00 Poetry writing workshop at the Kings theatre with established poet and mentor, Jacqui Rowe, for a unique poetry workshop exploring themes of war and responses to war.

16.00 Ground transport to Ocean Terminal, Leith

18.00 Dinner at Ocean Terminal

Evening Movie Night, Vue Cinemas (12 screen multiplex) in Ocean Terminal

10.00 – 11.30 The Writers’ Museum, Lady Stair’s Close. The museum celebrates the lives of three great Scottish writers – Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson.

13.00 Lunch on the Royal Mile

14.00 – 15.00 Scottish National Portrait Gallery - exhibition Remembering The Great War

18.00 ‘Come Dine With Me’ Evening in the hostel. Groups of students will prepare dinner for all with entertainment!

20.45-22.00 Night tour of Blair Street Vaults and Canongate Cemetry

Saturday, 4th October 2014

10.30 Guided tour of the Scottish Parliament providing information on the history, work and procedures of the Scottish Parliament and about the architecture of the award winning Scottish Parliament building.

12.00 Walk to St. Margaret’s Loch, picnic lunch

13.00 Climb Arthur’s Seat

16.00 Traditional Fish and Chips dinner at the best “chippie” in Edinburgh, The Tailend on Leith Walk,

Sunday, 5nd October 2014

13.00 ground transport to Edinburgh Airport. Lunch in terminal

15.50 Depart Edinburgh airport

19.50 return to Budapest on Jet2. Students should be collected by their parents or guardians from the airport.
